Much Better

Now I think my wall looks much better.

I hung a quilt top that I was not using and never finished and the Tobbaco basket covers up the hole. Then I just re-arranged and tweeked and I think it looks much better. Got all that peg board covered up. See red display, it is just perfect for jewelry. I broke 2 of my bottles moving stuff around, Oh well.

Then after that I went to a fellow-dealer's going-out-of-business sale and picked up these 2 items at 40% off. She's closing her shop and just doing the mall after she sells all her things. Deals to be had!!!!! If you are local, you need to go to Gatherings at the corner of Rusk and Bois d' Ark. Shes across from brick street pharmacy.

That red shelf thing is some old kitchen shelf of some sort. and that wooden divider box will sort out my bits and bobs quite nicely.

Tomorrow I'll do catch up on web and blog stuff, sorry I haven't been able to visit many of you in awhile, but I'll try to catch up tomorrow.

This is just so much fun.

So much to talk about

I've been real busy at my booth. I was up there monday afternoon and will need to go back tomorrow. I have some things to add, and some displays to arrange. My stuff is selling so that is encouraging. They wanted me to make some kind of sign, and this is what I came up with.

I'm now selling these cute folders both online and at the booth

I have both letter and legal size. You would get 4 folders, with really cute matching labels for $6.99, plus 2.00 shipping. These make great gifts.
Aren't these designs delicious. Just respond to the blog if you are interested.

I've been busy making projects, I can't show you all of them, because I need content for my projects of the week. But here is a peak at one of them.
Remember that fan cage I got over the weekend.

tomorrow I'm back at the booth to re-do this wall. Can't wait to show you how it turns out.

I was surprised when they put it up and told me it was mine also, and so I just threw some stuff up on it. Now I have some ideas on how to pretty it up a bit.

Canton is this weekend, and I've got to get laundry done sometime in-between all of this fun stuff.
take care

A new friend

Well I got an email from Valorie of the
Red Shed Girls in Grapevine, TX.
She had business in Tyler today and wanted to know if she could come meet me. I joked with my family that I had a "fan". Anyway, I was free, so I told her to come on. She arrived at my home at 2:30, And she brought me these wonderful goodies from her store. .
There are a couple of old filing dividers with my initials, a beautiful candle and a sweet vintage creamer, Matches to light the candle and a wonderfully sweet smelling home made soap bar. All of these items can be found at her store so check it out. What wonderful gifts, I wish that I were as good at putting little gift bags together as everyone else seems to be. Thank you Val for the goodies.
After a quick tour we headed out to some Local junk spots.
It was fun to see her shop for her store and visit and get to know her. We are both members of the
American Junk Club,
and that is how we know each other. We had a great time I just wish we had more time, and that one of the shops we visited had been open. Here's a pic I snapped, Yes I snapped it that is why I look so funny in it. Can you say "turkey neck". Well at least Valorie looks good.

The only things I got were this fan cage
and some spoons for more Flatware Bracelets. I already have a project in mind for the fan cage.

I thought it would be fun to walk around my house with my camera and take pics of all the Junk I use in decorating. Just the stuff I kept, not stuff that I make to sell. Well I'm a bit overwhelmed at what I've accumulated, but I put it all on one page and you can view it
here if you want.
you can click any picture to enlarge it.
Have a great weekend.

Good Junk Day, I sold Something, and I met someone

Wow!!! today has been a great day. First I headed off to an estate sale, where I found this lot.

I just love those vintage scarves, headbands, and gloves. And I also got this great vintage fabric.

Then it was off to work at the "real job" :(
Then after lunch I headed to one of my favorite places, Pandora's Box in Frankston
Where I found this.

I just brought it home and hung it there on some nails that were already in place. It's the larger wooden thing, not the smaller one on top. It was a great price. While I was at Pandora's box a lady stopped me and said she reads my blog. I was so surprised to be "recognized". Her name is Dee and she's a lurker, So here's a "shout out" to you Dee. It was nice to meet a blog reader, and fellow junker.

I got a call from the mall where I have space now, and I sold something. I'm so thrilled. I sold one of my luggage pocket things. I guess I need to make another to replace it.

Now what do I do with all those vintage scarves, any ideas????

I'm all set up!

Went to the Antique mall today and finished setting up my space. I have this wall and a few feet out from it.

The chest isn't mine, It belongs to the Mall. The manager was nice enough to let me use any mall props I wanted. I even got to go through her store and pick out some small accessories to dress it up. That is her scale there, and I used some of her old bottles on my shelves, and doilies here and there etc.

I'm so grateful to the mall for giving me this space. I need to take baby steps and this way I feel I have nothing to loose. If things sell well, I may end up renting but for now we are doing this consignment. I'm not real experienced at merchandising, but I think I did OK.

Luggage pockets, and sun catchers above
and Emma Katherene below showing off some jewelry.

Now cross your fingers for some great sales.

It's cold outside

I hate it when this happens. I had a nice long post and somehow i deleted most of it. So here is my re-creation of this literary masterpiece that is forever lost in cyberspace.

Sorry that I haven't posted any news or projects in a few days, but It's too cold outside to work. So I'll post someone elses project.

Don't you just love the colors and chippiness of these doors used as headboards. I saw this display at the last First Monday sale.

I've been asked to share the projects that I've done with things I've found. Specifically the stuff in the last post. Well I tried my hand at mosaic and I've decided it is not for me. I'm sure I'll find other uses for the broken china and I'll share the rest with Linda. I now have a respect for what linda does with mosaic and her work is fantastic. If you haven't seen linda's stuff be sure to click over, from my favorites section, there on the left.

I like to keep glass knobs and finials at the ready, these will be used in projects not yet conceived. The redware plate, has been glued back together and will find it's way onto my every growing plate/valance collage. The old metal stuff will probably be worked into various projects, and jewelry as will some of the gears. I'm selling off some of the gears on Ebay to pay for more projects.

I've been given some space at a local antique mall on consignment and I spent the afternoon fixing it up with my wares. I forgot my camera but will get you all a pic tomorrow. I'm excited about this new venture. I'm also excited that one of my china valances sold last week on Ebay and had quite a bit of interest. I've listed another to see how it does.

Everyone stay warm, you northern climate folks have my sympathies.

Yesterday's finds

First let me say that his magazine thing I mentioned Is not a huge thing. It's not a big story on junking or anything like that. If it's anything, it may be one picture of one project. But I won't know more for several months.
But the first hurtle has been passed, and now I wait. I will tell you it is a dream of mine to get something, anything into a magazine. For me it's like the ultimate pat on the back, that someone thinks one of my projects is good enough for the printed page. I know it's silly, but it is on my "life list".

I was feeling the need for Junk yesterday, and i found one estate sale in the area and headed off to it. It was in a poorer part of town, which ironically, has some of the best junk. I found a few metal items there and a couple of wire
desk baskets. While I was in the area I hit one of my favorite antique/junk spots. Kinda a secret in this area. This guy has drawers full of finials, clock parts, and glass door knobs and he is ready to make a deal. Between the 2 stops I picked up all of this great junk.

I always need glass door knobs and he said these finials came off of clocks that are
over 100 years old. He's got lots of clock stuff, faces, hands, gears etc. I also got some old keys, and a couple of hinges from him.
and then he brought out a can full of gears.

Just look at all those gears...
After I'd finished up this purchase he mentioned "broken China".
"broken china" I say with a sparkle in my eye, "show me".
I got all of this china for $10.00

So I was one happy camper. Now I've got to talk with my friend Linda (blue gate) and figure out how to do a china mosaic top for one of my junk coffee tables.
Right now it's just too cold outside. I went out for awhile, but I froze my little patootie off. So I guess I'll stick with jewelry creations tonight.
Stay warm.

exciting news

I can't tell you exactly what it is but I'll mention 1 word, Magazine. There, now let you imaginations run a-muck. Lots has to be approved before this little surprise becomes a reality, but I just had to share a tidbit.

Now for a project, because I must have a picture with every post. This is one of my newest creations, and I totally ripped the idea off from one of my Message Board friends. I did a little robo-modification to her idea and this is what I came up with.

The wheel is about 12" dia. I used spindles, glass awning rings, prisms and a glass dogbone insulator to embellish. I'm still looking for more sparkly things to add but I like this as an alternative to a hanging plant during the winter months.

And to Fran, who reads this blog, Some of these are the spindles R picked up at your place.

Have a good week.

#200

Before I show my projects, I want to remind you to register on the entry below for the give away, and I'll announce the winner tomorrow. You have till Friday night to enter.

Now for the Projects. I go through periods of time where the ideas just keep coming and I have to get out there and do them. Now is one of those times.
This first project was inspired by a broken plate.

You see the cup hanging down hides a huge section of this plate that is simply-GONE.
So I attached a plate and cup to a ribbon and hung them down in front of the broken plate to make it all presentable. This is the beginning of my transferware plate collage that is "in process" right now.

This next project is a variation on the one Joy did for Christmas

Instead of an Ornament, I added an old door plate and large Key, along with the silk greenery.
I am loving this easy project and will be making more. This one is for sale for $25.00 and will be added to my store soon. But if you'd like it just leave me a message and I'll get back to you with the shipping costs. You don't have to wait for it to show up in my store.

I've been working on some more projects, but You'll have to wait to see those on my web page. Sorry, but I have to save some projects for the web page. Can't wait to find out who wins my give-away, as I said before, Look for the winner to be announced tomorrow.
Have a great weekend. Margo

A Project and a Give away

Can you believe this is my 199th post. In honor of my 200th post coming up, I'm going to have a give away. But more about that later. Right now I want to show you this fun project. I saw this project on one of the Message boards I read and decided to adapt it for my own.

Isn't this just delicious? It's the pocket from an old suit case, mounted on a wood board in a frame. Then I added various items to it to dress it up. For those of you wondering, the wooden board and frame were part of my Weekend Flea Market Finds.
here it is with some old valentines in it.

And here it is with old button cards

What a great way to have a changeable piece on your wall. It could display old photos, game pieces, jewelry the possibilities are endless, I just love this project. This one is for sale $20.00 and It's yours (plus shipping). Just lmk if you are interested.

Now onto the giveaway. Everyone who responds to this post will be entered. I will draw a name on Saturday and it will be yours.

I dug through my various junk stashes and came up with these items. This would be a paper crafters dream. Included are
Genuine vintage bingo card, and pieces that spell out BINGO. Metal buckles, old key and key plate, Metal Parking Token, Metal tag with numbers, 3 vintage plastic typewriter keys, Raffle tickets, pink and yellow tags, one of my quilted angel ornaments, genuine old stamps, some ribbon pieces, a pink tassel and it will all come in that beautiful tin you see there.
But wait there's more. I decided to add this old crochet doily
Now be sure to leave a comment and you will be entered. The drawing will be Saturday and I'll post the winner then.
Good luck.
